Jacobean Floral

Jacobean Floral

Artist Comments

This drawing was inspired by jacobean embroidery, which was popular during the beginning of 17th century England. Such embroidery was usually stitched as crewel, (wool thread on linen ground) and featured stylized florals and/or animals. The fanciful organic shapes lend themselves to somewhat realistic detail and intense colors.

Materials used: Copic Multiliner pens on 140lb. Fabriano hot press watercolor paper, tinted with Derwent Inktense pencils. Size of original: 8″ X 11″.
